Regent Makkah

Key info
IHG and AIMS Holding are bringing Regent, their ultra-luxury brand, to Makkah for the first time, set steps from the Haram with what IHG calls "breathtaking, unobstructed views of the Holy Mosque and Al Kaaba" - plus specialty restaurants, a world-class spa and a high-floor presidential suite.
Why it matters
There's no Regent in Makkah today, and this lands right at the top of the market, going head to head with Raffles and Fairmont for the best Haram views in the city. One for IHG One Rewards members to keep a close eye on.
Sofitel Jabal Omar Makkah

Key info
Set inside the Jabal Omar complex alongside Hilton, Address and Rotana, this will be the world's largest Sofitel, blending French elegance with Saudi craft across multiple dining venues and an executive lounge, with rooms facing both the Holy Mosque and the city.
Why it matters
Accor has been largely absent from Makkah's luxury tier. Sofitel fills the gap between premium and ultra-luxury, giving Accor ALL members a serious Haram-adjacent option, with the scale to ease availability during peak seasons.
Courtyard Masar

Key info
Marking Marriott's 100th property in Saudi Arabia and signed with SEDCO Capital, this 1,100-room Courtyard sits inside Umm Al Qura's Masar destination on the pedestrian spine that runs down to Masjid Al Haram, with multiple dining venues, a ballroom, a kids club and retail.
Why it matters
Courtyard brings Marriott's dependable upper-midscale standard to one of Makkah's biggest new masterplans, giving Bonvoy members a points-friendly base on the Masar approach to the Haram - though a 2030 opening makes this a longer-term watch. In the meantime, Courtyard Marriott along Ajyad Street is a great budget option for Marriott lovers.
Abraj Omar

Key info
A joint project with Alesayi Holding, Abraj Omar joins Accor's design-led MGallery Collection with 276 rooms and 214 branded residences, where every floor is themed around a figure in Islamic history - the first honouring Omar Ibn Al-Khattab (RA) - alongside a spa, restaurants and a children's play area.
Why it matters
MGallery brings a boutique, story-led alternative to Makkah's big-box towers, giving Accor ALL members a more characterful luxury stay than the standard five-star blocks.
Kempinski Masar

Key info
Masar is a 3.6 km stretch of 100+ towers from the Haram to the train station. What differentiates Kempinski is that it is located at the very edge neighboring the Jabal Omar development and offers a level of proximity that others in Masar cannot offer. The hotel will sit alongside a branded residences, marking the European luxury group's first move into Makkah.
Why it matters
Kempinski adds another established European luxury name to the Masar approach to the Haram, and GHA DISCOVERY members finally gain a recognised loyalty option in a market long dominated by the US chains - though no opening date is confirmed yet.
Courtyard Al-Naseem

Key info
Signed with Al Qimmah Hospitality and Amwaj Real Estate (BinDawood), this is set to be the largest Courtyard by Marriott in the world - 2,179 rooms across seven interconnected towers, with a restaurant seating over 1,800 guests and the brand's signature grab-and-go store.
Why it matters
Similar to Four Points by Sheraton (also in Al-Naseem), sheer capacity is the story here: a property this size takes pressure off peak Umrah and Hajj seasons and hands Bonvoy members a high-availability, mid-range option, trading some Haram-proximity for value.
