Make sure your Makkah stay is at one of these 20 hotels
Our twenty highest-rated stays - the honest brief on each, and how far you'll actually walk to the Haram.
Published 5 June 2026
Makkah has no shortage of five-star towers, and almost every one of them claims to be "moments from the Haram." Some genuinely are. Others involve a mall basement, a broken escalator and a fifteen-minute detour you didn't budget for.
So here are the twenty we keep coming back to - each with a quick, honest brief, our rating, and the walking time to the Haram as it actually feels on the ground. Tap through to any name for the full review.
1. Fairmont Clock Royal Tower

The hotel you've seen in every Makkah photo ever taken - inside the Clock Tower, with underground access that puts you on the marble in about two minutes. The trade-offs are elevator queues at prayer times and rooms starting to show their age, all at a serious premium. But for first-timers and families who want maximum convenience, the address is hard to beat.
2. Swissôtel Makkah

The original Swissôtel in the Middle East, tucked inside the Clock Tower complex with Kaaba and full Haram views from the upper floors. Contemporary five-star finishes throughout and a two-minute walk to the mosque. Just don't confuse it with Swissotel Al Maqam when booking, and expect premium pricing year-round.
3. InterContinental Dar Al Tawhid

The closest hotel to the Haram - walk out of the lobby and you're on the plaza, with Kaaba-facing rooms available if you ask. Nothing else comes as close for elderly parents or anyone with mobility concerns. The catch is an aging facility that needs renovation, and consistently high pricing.
4. Raffles Makkah Palace

Suite-only luxury with genuine butler service and unobstructed Haram views - our highest-rated stay in the city. Everything is handled for you, from Zamzam delivery to reservations. The vibe is formal and the price is the steepest on this list, so it suits those who want the very top end.
5. Jabal Omar Jumeirah

Spacious, serene luxury in the Jabal Omar district, with premium finishes and a calm that's rare this close to the Haram. The five-minute walk and luxury pricing are the main considerations. Dining is a touch more limited than the bigger Haram-front towers.
6. Address Jabal Omar Makkah

Emaar's striking twin-tower hotel, home to the Sky Musalla - the world's highest prayer room, set in a skybridge. Standout contemporary design, rooftop dining and panoramic Haram views from the upper floors. It's a seven-minute walk and priced at the very top, with breakfast the one weak spot.
7. Swissotel Al Maqam

A massive, family-friendly hotel with 1,600 rooms and tunnel access straight to the Haram, so availability stays wide even in peak weeks. Family suites and multiple dining options make it a solid group choice. At this scale it can feel impersonal, and standard rooms are compact.
8. Hyatt Regency Jabal Omar

Modern luxury with a deliberately calm atmosphere and an excellent spa - quieter than most Haram-adjacent hotels. A four-minute walk through Jabal Omar to the mosque. Haram views are limited from most room categories, and it's still establishing its reputation.
9. Hilton Suites Jabal Omar

All-suite comfort with proper living space to spread out - built for families, with kids' amenities and reliable WiFi. A four-minute walk to the Haram and a strong 9.0 rating. Expect a higher price point and the usual prayer-time elevator queues.
10. Hilton Makkah Convention

Spacious, minimalist rooms with wide panoramic views from Jabal Omar's peak, plus group-friendly infrastructure and dedicated prayer halls. Reliable Hilton service throughout.
11. Jabal Omar Conrad

A modern design hotel with direct access to the Jabal Omar mall and some of the more spacious rooms in the city. A four-minute walk to the Haram. It sits slightly further than the Clock Tower hotels, with limited Haram views from the lower floors.
12. Rotana Jabal Omar

Brand new (opened January 2026), so everything is pristine - 652 rooms across three towers, six dining venues and a Club Rotana lounge. It sits a bit further behind in the Jabal Omar plot, but you can still benefit from partial Haram views.
13. Al Marwa Rayhaan by Rotana

Built for Umrah groups and multi-generational families, with interconnected rooms and an on-site prayer room. A decent buffet and a family-first layout. Convenient for the daily back and forth to the Haram.
14. DoubleTree by Hilton Jabal Omar

A reliable mid-range option inside the Jabal Omar development - clean, well-maintained, and Hilton Honors eligible. Good value with access to Jabal Omar dining and retail. Rooms are smaller than the full Hilton, it's an eight-minute walk, and the Haram shuttle has reportedly been discontinued.
15. Le Meridien Makkah

Remarkably close for the price - a three-minute ramp walk to the Haram and Marriott Bonvoy benefits, with a strong breakfast buffet. It sits on a busy main road, so expect traffic noise, and the furnishings are dated. But the value-to-proximity ratio is hard to argue with, especially when you've just finished Umrah at Marwa and want to get back asap(!).
16. Jabal Omar Marriott

Perched atop the Jabal Omar hill, this hotel has been around for some time. Spacious rooms, great views of the Haram plazas, and Marriott perks (for the loyalty points junkies out there). Only downside is that the rooms are rather dated (particularly when you compare it to the newer Address and DoubleTree options right next door).
17. Voco Makkah

Great quality at an absolute bargain price point. It's difficult to beat Voco on a value perspective. Having said that, Voco is not close, unless you consider a 20-minute walk up Ibrahim Khalil road 'close'. If you're looking to do Makkah on a budget, great option.
18. Courtyard by Marriott Ajyad

The under-rated value pick on Ajyad Street - among the cheapest Marriott-quality rooms in the city, spacious and modern, with a short, cheap taxi ride (around 10 SAR) to the Haram. No Haram views and limited food nearby, but for reliable comfort on a budget it punches above its weight.
19. Sheraton Makkah Jabal Al Kaaba

This is another good value Marriott option. Located right next to the Third Expansion of the Haram, it's a short 2-3 minute walk until you're touching the white marble. Rooms and bathrooms are a bit tight, especially if there's two or more sharing a room - it works best for a short stay in the city.
20. Pullman ZamZam

Located at the back of the Clock Tower set, it's still a reasonable option when you're comparing it to the broader set of Makkah hotels. Its prime view rooms book out fast though so worth keeping this in mind.
