The Int'l Museum Of The Prophet's Biography
An immersive walk through the life of the Prophet (S.A.W) — and one of Makkah's best-kept secrets
Most visitors to Makkah walk through the Clock Tower complex dozens of times and never realise there's a museum on the second floor. The Museum of the Prophet's Biography opened in 2025, and it's one of the most impressive cultural experiences in the city — yet hardly anyone talks about it.
What to expect

This isn't a static museum with objects behind glass. It's a guided, immersive experience — closer to an exhibition walk-through than a traditional museum visit.
The tour moves through a series of interactive pavilions covering the Prophet's (S.A.W) life, from birth to the establishment of the first Muslim community. The museum uses several display technologies, such as immersive rooms and VR. Highlights include:
- "The Prophet as If You Were with Him" — immersive scenes recreating historic locations in Makkah and Madinah, including the migration route
- Panoramic view of the Prophet's Chamber — a detailed, large-scale 3D presentation
- Prophetic medicine pavilion — covering the health practices and remedies mentioned in the Sunnah
- Daily life presentations — the Prophet's (S.A.W) clothing, food, gestures, names, and qualities

The production quality is high. Projection mapping, panoramic screens, and interactive displays are used throughout — but they serve the content rather than overshadowing it. The experience feels educational without being dry, and emotional without being manipulative.
The tour ends at a gift shop and photo booth — the only place in the museum where you're able to take photos.
Before you go
A few things worth knowing before you visit:
- No photography inside the museum. This is strictly enforced. Phones need to be on silent throughout.
- No luggage. You can't bring travel bags or large bags into the museum — travel light or leave bags at your hotel.
- Strollers are permitted. Good news for families with younger children.
- Special needs services are available. The museum is accessible and offers dedicated assistance.
- No food or beverages allowed inside.
- Part of a global network. The museum has five branches worldwide — Makkah, Madinah, Rabat, Dakar, and Nouakchott. The Makkah branch is considered the flagship.

How to book: Reservations are mandatory — you can't just walk in. Book at tickets.asc.sa (that link takes you directly to the Makkah branch). Choose your preferred language and time slot. English guided tours run roughly once an hour, but slots fill up — book at least a day ahead, especially during Ramadan and peak Umrah periods. Tour duration: 50 minutes to an hour depending on your pace.
The honest take: The content hits differently when you're already in Makkah for Umrah — especially the Hijrah section. And the convenience is hard to beat: it's on the second floor of the Clock Tower, so you walk upstairs, spend an hour, and walk back to your hotel or the Haram. Book the English tour specifically — the guided element is what makes the experience. Without a guide, you'd miss the context that connects the exhibits. And book ahead. We were turned away on our first visit as the next available slot was hours later.
